Rural Montana Life Community Groups
The Town of [Wild Horse] Plains, in the Cabinet Mountians Valley of western Montana, was named for the thousands of wild horses grazing in the mild winter months a century ago. The residents of the Plains area are the members of community groups who vision, plan, and work together on community goals.

Our
Projects
Winter Schedule
We plan in the winter months from late September through March. Project work is done in April, May, June, and late September. July and August are vacation months.
The City Council Room is generally available for meetings on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Monday of each month. Smaller groups meet at Montana High Espresso or at Bickenheuser's home in the Garden Room. Check the agenda for time and place.
Note: Charles Bickenheuser buys the espresso at Linda's or makes espresso when we meet in the Garden Room.
Three planning areas are summarized on this page
Planes Water Management
In the summer the town pumps five times as much water as in the winter. To avoid running out of water or having a one-size-fits-all summer water schedule, we can use better plant and flower choices, and better watering plans, to have our yards and gardens stay green and beautiful in summer.
The Community Heart & Soul Neighbourhood Visioning Conversations
The Community Heart & Soul is a resident-driven process that engages the entire population of a town in identifying what they love most about their community, what future they want for it, and how to achieve it.
Developed and field-tested over a decade in partnership with over 100 small cities and towns across America, Community Heart & Soul is a proven process for engaging a community in shaping its future. Read more
The September Sweep — Plains Yard Sale and Beautification Days (Friday & Saturday, 29-30 September 2023)
The Town of Plains September Sweep is a two-day, community-wide yard sale and beautification event for our town. The September Sweep will be an annual event.
